Notes for SJSU Class

• Using the Linux web server:
  • Login to lab.pdc.sjsu.edu using telnet.
  • Edit files with pico if vi is unfamiliar.
• Configuration of the classroom PCs:
  • Each student has a private U: drive that's writable only by him or her.
  • All the PCs share a common X: drive. This is a good way to pass files from one student to another.
  • The Run feature in the Start menu and the DOS window have both been disabled so you can't type commands
  • The desktop is not writable, but you can create files in the U: drive (see above)
  • To FTP, use WS_FTP95 (nice graphical user interface)
• Tasks to do:
  • Download the source code for the Joe's Garage mailing-list form and its processing script and run them locally.
  • Install your own form and see what data it generates by setting its ACTION to
