Running Your Radar

You must at all times be aware of who's "getting it" and who isn't.

• You're busy talking, yet you must also be listening.
• For any student at any moment, you should be able to answer yes or no to, "Is he or she getting it?"
• How do you answer this question?

• What do you do if the answer is no for many students?

• Smoke out the "hiders". How?

• Your radar is especially powerful during hands-on exercises:
  • Walk around. Look over people's shoulders. Help out.
  • Assess progress. Keep track.
  • What kinds of interactions are possible during exercises that would be less likely during lecture/discussion?
